Evansville Lutheran Counseling Center is seeking a qualified Christian counselor to support our mission of "Sharing Jesus Christ's hope and healing through professional counseling". We support families, children and individuals as an expression of the Lutheran Church Community's concern for those in need, consistent with the teaching of God's Word as confessed in The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. This is a special opportunity for the right individual because we are building a new program. Our counselor must have a passion for helping people with emotional needs and hearing the Word of Christ in a counseling setting. Our circuit is made up of fourteen LCMS sister congregations, an elementary school and two pre-schools. Our congregations and schools serve the greater Evansville Metropolitan area, which has a population of over 350,000, and its surrounding areas. Our counseling center is within the Lutheran Mission Action Counsel (LMAC) facility in Evansville, Indiana, and funding is in place to support the establishment of the ministry.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Position with flexible hours. Full time benefits include health insurance and continuing education opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Provide professional clinical Christian counseling services to individuals, couples and families in a confidential setting.
• Help clients identify personal goals, develop effective strategies, and work towards positive change in their lives.
• Use a variety of treatment modalities according to the client's needs.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records using Therapy Notes software.
• Follow all guidelines, regulations, standards, and policies of ELFCC, Inc.
• Collaborate with, refer to, or communicate with other professionals, as needed, to best serve the needs of clients.
• Serve as a resource to patients, families, churches, schools and community members.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
• Be an active member of a local LCMS church community and interact properly with clients, colleagues, and community.
• Respect the autonomy of each individual client and uphold their right to self awareness.
• Must maintain CPR and first aid certifications.
• Must earn 16 CEUs each year related to counseling.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field from a state accredited institution.
Experience:
Active/obtain license as a counselor in the state of Indiana: LCSW
KEY COMPETENCIES
• At least six years of professional counseling experiences with a variety of ages a plus
• Paid or volunteer experience working in a church or other ministry
• Able to work with other ELFCC counselors and a deaconess
